How Bad Are Processed Foods? : Why Not Processed Foods?
Have you ever seen a picture of your blood plasma after eating a McDonald's or Burger King meal? It's not a pretty sight. It appears to be thick and cloudy. Fast food is high in fat and sodium. They use white bread and rolls, which means they've used white processed flour, which contains very few nutrients.
How do you feel after a Big Mac and some French fries? Do you need to take a nap? All that fat will weigh you down and make you sluggish. Going on a diet is difficult, but consider some of the things you do when you are on a diet. You avoid foods that are high in fat, processed, and high in sodium. True, you eat less. However, you consume more raw fruits and vegetables. You ingest water. And the benefits of eating this way include more energy and less need for sleep.
Processed foods, due to their high fat content, are difficult to digest. They consume a tremendous amount of energy from the body. When your body's energy isn't consumed by digesting all that fat, it becomes available for YOU – for work, play, love, exercise – in other words, for LIFE.
These aren't radical ideas. You don't have to drastically alter your way of life. But consider what you consume without even thinking about it. When we're hungry and in a hurry, we reach for the potato chips or go to McDonald's or Taco Bell.
It's much easier to keep snacks on hand these days so you don't have to stop at a fast food restaurant when you're hungry. If you're frequently on the road and get hungry, stop at a grocery store and buy a bag of vegetables or apple slices. Yes, driving up to Wendy's is easier, but a few extra minutes, not to mention a few extra steps, will be well worth it in terms of energy and vitality.
