What is the Raw Food Diet?

Have you become aware of the Raw Food Diet?

It's gaining traction as a diet for living a long and healthy life rather than just losing weight. We eat so much processed food that we don't even consider what we're putting into our bodies or how far we've progressed nutritionally since our agrarian forefathers.

What is the Raw Food Diet?

A raw food diet entails consuming food in its natural, unprocessed state. There are several obvious reasons why this is a good idea. Food processing and cooking can deplete a significant portion of its nutritional value. Consider some of the conventional wisdom you've been hearing for years, such as: Cooking pasta to al dente (or medium) has more calories, but it also has more nutritional value than cooking it to well-done. Alternatively, you may have heard that it is best not to peel carrots or potatoes too deeply because the majority of the nutrients and values are just beneath the surface.

The raw food diet consists of eating unprocessed, uncooked, organic, whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, dried fruits, seaweeds, and so on. It entails consuming at least 75% of your food raw! Cooking depletes vegetables and fruits of flavor and nutrition. A raw food diet entails eating more in the manner of our forefathers. Our forefathers were fitter and healthier. They didn't cook much, and they certainly didn't cook or process fruits and vegetables. They devoured them RAW. Their water did not come from a tap; it was pure, spring water. Perhaps they drank coconut milk on occasion.

Isn't it obvious that this is how our bodies were designed to eat? It's a way of eating that's both good for the planet and good for our bodies. Our bodies were designed to work and must work in order to function properly. That includes exercise, but it also includes eating natural, raw foods that require more energy to digest.
